Hello!! We want to welcome you to our platform, Medmentor.

Our mission is to provide any and every aspiring medical student with all the guidance, tools and resources they need to succeed in the medical school application process - all under a one roof.

We know many of you reading this will be at different parts of your journey. That's why we've developed the Medmentor SuperHub so that it can be relevant and available for anyone at any time.

What is the SuperHub?

The SuperHub is essentially a supercharged digital mentor.

It's your one-stop shop for UK medical school application guidance, tools and resources. We've included absolutely everything you need to be able to succeed with your application. The best thing about it? It's always accessible and you can consult it as often as you want!

Our mission was simple. To go through all the resources and guidance available for aspiring medical students (including both free and paid resources) and identify the resources most worthy of your attention.

If we think a resource provides you with a lot of value, we include it in the SuperHub.

How can I use the SuperHub?

You can use the SuperHub in multiple ways. However, the best way to approach is it like an older mentor. We've combined the expertise of many high achieving medical students into one website (and one webpage) ... or 'digital mentor'.

Simply navigate to whatever section is relevant to you (depending on where you are on your medical school application journey) open the tab and make your way through the resources. You can tick off your resources to keep track of progress (which is automatically saved for future visits).

For example, if you're currently in the Summer before Year 13 you should be writing your personal statement and preparing for the UCAT. The SuperHub will have tabs covering both of these aspects individually.

The Hub has been laid out into five different sections. This will help you particularly in the early stages (Pre-Year 12 and Year 12) when it's sometimes less clear what you should be doing.

The SuperHub doesn't just aim to get you into medical school. We cover the full range! From helping you to decide on whether Medicine is right for you in the first place (if you're unsure) to preparing you for your first day at medical school!

The SuperHub will serve you from A to Z.

How will the SuperHub help me?

Here are just some of the biggest advantages to using the SuperHub:

How can I make the most of it?

Navigate to the relevant section depending on where you are in the application process. If you're doing your GCSEs and are thinking about applying to Medicine, check out our Pre-Year 12 guide. We also recommend those in Year 12 who haven't looked at the Pre-Year 12 section to do so if they've discovered us later on! The time to look at the remaining sections are explained at the top of each section (when expanded).

We recommend you skim through the relevant sections (particularly the 💡 and ⏰ sections) at the start of each year (i.e. the Year 12 section during the Summer before you commence Year 12). This will give you an overview of what to think about and when to go through each section. Then use this advice accordingly to navigate through the tabs throughout the year.

⏰ = one valuable aspect of having a mentor is knowing when you should think about and do certain things to ensure you're in the best position possible. Therefore, where relevant these sections (in orange) give you some advice around the timing ... e.g. when to think about this section? over what length of time? etc.

💡 = this section has been written as though a mentee was asking a mentor about a specific aspect of the application (e.g. Work Experience). Therefore, the first thing you should do is read the advice given in these sections before embarking on the resources. It will contain valuable advice on how to best navigate that aspect of the application and includes a compilation of extremely helpful tips that you should keep in mind.

🌟 = for certain sections we've starred some items to help you quickly navigate the most essential resources - particularly helpful if time is short.

How was Medmentor and the SuperHub made?

Medmentor was co-founded by myself (Abdul-Rahman Abbas) and Huzaifah Jearally. Our core team consists of five individuals (see our homepage) in total including ourselves. We have a small but growing wider team that provide important contributions to the organisation.

The SuperHub was created by firstly identifying all the resources available to applicants (free or paid). We then identified the best resources by asking high-achieving applicants (from our team and beyond) what they used. In addition, we asked them what they would not recommend. We then scanned the remaining library for any hidden gems.

The result? All the resources you will ever need, giving you the best chances of success, in one place. This consists of popular resources but also the less known ones!
